Connecticut has a past rich with Historic Homes. The Mystic Historical District has been set up so that owners of famous homes cant make major changes with out the approval of the Historical Association. Although this can limit the types of modifications an owner can make to their home, it maintains the look and feel of the Historical District.
Not all old homes have this deed restriction on the property. But prospective buyers should be aware of the possibility. Any home that is marked with a black and white sign on the front showing the date and the original owner, is usually protected. All up the Connecticut coast there are homes full of history.
